At the end of a match, the first referee wraps things up by acknowledging and thanking the entire officiating and support crew—line judges, scorekeeper, statistician, scoreboard operator, and any other helpers. This closing gesture is a show of sportsmanship and teamwork, which is how officiating crews function smoothly. The other tasks aren’t the first referee’s end-of-match duties: reviewing game statistics is handled by the statistics personnel, discussing calls with coaches happens during or after play if necessary but not as a formal end-of-match duty, and resetting the scoreboard is the job of the scoreboard operator or statistics crew.
